Stage 1
Classes 1-2

Fundamentals of blow drying

This stage introduces the core theory and practical skills of DLA’s fundamental blow-drying techniques.

Topics Covered:


  • Blocking a wig
    • Washing
    • Working out the hairline
    • Scrunching
    • Partings
  • Blow-drying straight and under
    • Straight blow-dry
    • Straight bangs blow-dry
  • Straightening with an iron

This stage serves as the foundation for all advanced blow-drying techniques.

Stage 2
Classes 3-4

Mastering curling & crimping

In this stage, students learn the correct way to use a curling iron and build a strong foundation in curling and crimping techniques.

  • Blow-dry barrel curls
    • Blow-dry bottle curls
    • Curling iron techniques
  • Crimping techniques
    • Wrap and twist variations
    • One-bend styling
Stage 3
Classes 5-6

The wet-set method

This stage introduces DLA’s wet set method, designed for long-lasting styles while preventing heat damage or overstretching of the wig, net, and hair.

This method ensures longevity for wigs while reducing physical strain on stylists.

Stage 4
Classes 7-10

Advanced blow drying & shaping techniques

At this stage, students have mastered fundamental blow-drying techniques and begin shaping fronts and creating new styles.

    • Diagonal forward towards face
    • Set in with curling iron
  • Blow-dry – diagonal forward reverse

Stage 5
Classes 11-12

Finishing & picture assessment

In this stage, students refine finishing techniques and participate in DLA’s renowned picture assessment, where they learn to replicate any style from an image.

  • Finishing and pinning
  • Style replication
    • Creating combination styles based on picture
  • 90° head shape layers in bangs and fronts


  • Real-world hands-on application
    • Prepare and style a real wig for an actual client, using a reference photo provided by the client, and complete the finishing process in class.
Stage 6
Classes 13-14

Master Class & Competition

This stage features a master class with Master Trainer, DLA,  including an educational competition, as well as advanced techniques and trending styling methods.

Stage 7
Class 15-16

Final hands-on training & graduation
